I don’t give up easily, so I’ll keep playing until I get it. I’ve made up my mind that I’m using TXP so I don’t care if it takes me a year! :)

I felt like you did about five or six months ago. Everyday I feel a little bit of that, but end up hootin and hollerin for joy when I figure something out. I found that it took time to get the syntax, and rhythm of ideas down for txp, but now that I am trucking along, I am ready to begin work on other sites. THe best thing I did was to mess it up a ton and search the forums like crazy, use google to search the forums too, sometimes it returns better hits. try site:forums.textpattern.com “your query here” – without the quotes.
