TXP: many features, best interface ever, but why no static Links?

I have searched so long and checked all tutorials. But I could not reach my sections with “ordinary” links at last.

Let me tell, what I have tried*:

1) Building XHTML-Pages, for example A | B | C. Check. (Static) Content is placed on this Pages and on Home-default.
2) Building Sections A | B | C.
3) Link-Settings from Home: Home | A | B | C.
4) If I try to use the Links a href=“A.html” A /a on the Home-Site, it want not link.
5) If I try to use Links like a href=”?s=A” title=“A” A * /a* and it is allrigth: the A-Site appears.

(think the ** above as <>, BBCode-Modus is off here?!?)

Ok, there ist a Link between my static Pages, but the URI is only rough, isnt it?

My problem seems to be, that I do not understand how to build an ordinary Link between my static Pages.

How do you place a Link between the Pages?

*Sorry for my bad English.

Sections can be accessed as subdirectories of your root. So to call section “food” you link thus:

www.domain.com/food/

Re: TXP: many features, best interface ever, but why no static Links?

Thank you for answering,
it doesnt work at all. My Textpattern-Testing is local (Mac, OS 10.4).
I write like you suggest: www.domain.com/food/
The URI of the Link will become in my browser: http://localhost/~myusername/textpattern/localhost/food/

I think, I have to look to my admin preferences.

Re: TXP: many features, best interface ever, but why no static Links?

WICHTIG: nutzt man ‘URL mod: /messy/ dann referenziert man auf eine section mit einem Link wie folgt:
www.mysite.de/?s=sectionname. In ‘clean mod’ reicht:
www.mysite.de/sectionname

Try using <code><txp:site_url />about</code> or <code><txp:site_url />?s=about</code>. That way, when you move the site the URLs will remain valid.

Links to sections and categories can even be “made such that they take into account clean or messy urls into account as well:

Re: TXP: many features, best interface ever, but why no static Links?

Thank you all for answering!

I had to look a bit earlier here, and congratulations to Alexandra for her 777’ post! I will try to follow your explanations (and see at the german forum as well).

It seems, that I work here in messy mode, because: www.mysite.de/?s=sectionname works well.

I think, that I must write a .htaccess too, to change to clean mod, and so can use: www.mysite.de/sectionname. But first I will try to check your answers.

Thank you very much for now!

The FAQ covers navigation links in detail: How do I create navigation links?

No Sakura, is not necessary. first of all there is a working .htacces coming with the TXP bundle and second you can switch from messy-mod to clean-mod in the administration section of your txp install.
i would suggest you move your questions to the german forum section… is easier for germans to answer :)

Re: TXP: many features, best interface ever, but why no static Links?

To switch from messy-mod to clean-mod in the administration section of my txp install seems to be useless. Until now only this code works for links: href=”?s=sectionname”

Switching the “Permanent link mode” have no effect.

I have now installed a TXP-package on my webserver in /test/
Here the .htacces coming with the TXP bundle dont work but give me an empty browser-window and prevent access to TXP admin-area too.

Ok, I will change to the german section, thank you for all answers!
