1 image for the excerpt, different image for the body?
I’ve looked into the zem plugin which allows for multiple images per article but that displays them in a row. I’m looking at being able to place the images in the article where I wish rather than looping through and displaying them all at once.
Is this possible through a plugin or maybe I’m better off using a custom field even?

Sounds like you’d be better off using Textile image references in the article body – !images/123.jpg!

Right on, thanks.
I’m still testing and setting up my site now and that’s how I’m achieving the results but was wondering if there was a way to do it with multiple images per article so I could just throw it in the form.
Take care

upm_img_popper plugin allows you to format your multiple article images with a form (so you can include e.g. caption) – but I’m not sure if you’ll be able to place them individually where you wish…
as zem says, you’d be better off inserting images as you write your article – and again upm_img_popper makes this very easy
PS regarding your question: you could use the thumbnail in the excerpt and the full image in the body…

It’s okay, I’ll just display the image in the article body as it’s not that big of a deal I suppose.
The images are different, it isn’t just a thumbnail and fullsize but thanks for your suggestions and help anyway.

a thumbnail and a fullsize pic can be completely different pics of course … you can upload another image as the ‘thumbnail’
