Blog on Different Server
Hello. Our current site is hosted on an IIS shared server, and we are stuck with them for 2 years. At the same time we want to host our blog with a different (Unix) webhost. How can I bring them together so that they appear to be from the same domain name? Something like blog.domainname.com ??
Thanks.

Re: Blog on Different Server
Well, it won’t be from the same domain name if you’re running the blog on a different host, but I would just link to the blog on the Unix host and the user will be (mostly) none the wiser.
For instance … let’s say your site is called http://www.joe.com Register the name Joeblog and if users click on the link to your blog from your current site, they will be taken to http://www.joeblog.com to read the blog. Keep the design consistent and have links back to your current site and you’ll be able to keep the users in your environment.
Not sure if this is exactly what you’re looking for, but should help if no other options are possible.
Good Luck!

Re: Blog on Different Server
You can always point your subdomain to a different server – depending on your host(s) and where your dns is and how much access you have.
This is really not a textpattern related question. Moving to Textpatter.

Re: Blog on Different Server
Use DNSDE to manage your domain and point the sub.domain.com to the blog server.
