The "Unable to save result set" thread
As mentioned in the FAQ, this error:
Warning: mysql_query() [function.mysql-query]: Unable to save result set in /home/somewhere/public_html/blog/textpattern/lib/txplib_db.php on line 53
..seems to be quite common.
We know that it’s caused by some kind of MySQL corruption or communication problem. We know that it can usually be fixed by repairing tables (the exception is when this error is caused by a faulty PHP or MySQL install, in which case a reinstall of the php/mysql libraries is the only solution). And we know that it’s not caused by Textpattern (even if there’s a txp bug, it shouldn’t be possible for an application to cause database corruption).
But we don’t know what the cause is, or whether it’s limited to certain versions of MySQL or PHP.
So, if you’ve experienced this error (of the first kind, that can be fixed with ‘repair tables’, not the library problem), can you please post:
1. Textpattern version
2. PHP version
3. MySQL version
4. Web hosting company and server name, if appropriate
5. Server OS, if known
The first 3 are all listed on your admin > diagnostics page.
Also, if you can, try setting your Production Status to testing, and see if the error message shows the SQL query that triggered the error.
Hopefully we’ll be able to discover a pattern, and make a PHP or MySQL bug report.
ps, this thread is for reports and information; questions and speculation should go elsewhere, please. Again, the problem is not caused by Textpattern, so we cannot fix it. The purpose of this thread is to collect enough information for a PHP or MySQL bug report, if that turns out to be appropriate.
