media=handheld for txp admin interface
Has anyone done this already?
I’m having this friend who’s not very tech savy. She will be travelling around the world for some months with her brand new palm lifedrive. I will set-up a kind of a travel log, using, yeah, well txp of course.Now, this nice piece of equipment has about everything on board to start publishing on the web. However the txp interface does not look that good on the device, but workable from where I’m standing.
My question is, is there someone who has done a handheld stylesheet for the txp interface. I’m mainly looking for the article/write area. Is it even possible, any tips or pointers to where to look for something like this.I know my css (well, kind of intermediate that is) but haven’t looked into this part of it yet.
Any tips and/or pointers would be very welcome.

How is the CSS support for that device ?
- You can certainly link to a stylesheet with media=“handheld”, you’ll need to modify slightly the /lib/txplib_head.php file to add a call to that stylesheet.
- I’ve only published some mods to change the ‘tabs’ to use a list instead of a bunch of nested tables (published here ); that would make it more accessible on a small screen.
- the main editing area is using a 3 column table; setting
td {display:block}
in your handheld stylesheet will make it more accessible on a small screen (the 3 columns will become 3 rows).
Some things worth playing with. Let us know how it goes.

Re: media=handheld for txp admin interface
Hi phiw13, thanks very much for the info.
For what i’ve seen up till now the browser (Blazer) supports css nicely. Your pointers and tips are great as well as your article on it, and are along the lines of my own thinking, just more precise. Thanks again.
It will take me some time to really get around to working on it, but I’ll keep y’all posted about my findings.
