Can someone tell me what the new “pageby” attribute is meant to do please?

Help with situations where you want to split up the article list:
<txp:article limit=5 pageby=10 />
<!-- google ad -->
<txp:article limit=5 offset=5 pageby=10 />
Without pageby, older/newer pages would be messed up (the first list would show articles 5-10 and the second 10-15, instead of 10-15 and 15-20).
