Re: Template loading instructions?
Ask the template/skin/whatever creator.

Plus has it been ported to TXP already or have you got a nice little job on your hands?

Re: Template loading instructions?
sorry, I dont’ follow here. in many other cases of “common” shared apps, the new template or skin comes with an installer (VBulletin, phpBB etc). In other cases, a complete How-To comes in the zip to help new users. I searched quickly and found a couple of styles that I like, d/l the zip and opened up same. No installer, no readme, no How-To. Hmm…some were plain .css and images, while others have like lots of .txt files, images, css etc.
How is one supposed to know “How-To” install?
Plus, here in the forums in the Look at my Style forum, you can see how others have used TP to get their own styles…are they available too? Or not?
Sorry, so very new to this community, about all I can see lacking is an explanation of styles/skins/templates – whatever you all call them…

Re: Template loading instructions?
Currently Textpattern does not have an easy way to import/export styles.
Usually you have to create all the necessary pages, forms and css manually. Once you get familiar with how textpattern works, and how you can use it to structure your site, you will also find out how forms, pages and css work, and how sections and categories come into play.
When you find a .zip with a style for textpattern as a download, it will probably contain the content of what you have to manually create in textpattern as pages, forms and css. If it also contains images, there will be instructions somewhere on where they should go.
And before you ask: Will this become easier in the future? Definitely. But when and how is still somewhat open.

Re: Template loading instructions?
A bit different from the topic, but it still fits with ‘installing templates’. My question is:
In using a template, do i have to keep the information in the bottom about the author who created it, or am i allowed to delete it?
thanks

Re: Template loading instructions?
oldi: read the license that accompanies it if there is one, otherwise ask the creator.
Jim: Textpattern does not yet have a template or theme system, which is why I said “ask the creator” as opposed to directing you to documentation on how to use it. There are a number of methods used, particular to the creator, and sometimes even particular to that “template”/“theme”. Therefore, read any documentation that accompanies it, otherwise ask the creator. :)
