Sub Articles & navigation

I’m trying to set up text pattern to do the following. I want articles, but the ability to have sub articles, not sure how the categories and sections would be set up though.

But the final output I need is:

Article Sub article Sub article Sub article
Article Sub article Sub article
Article
Article Sub Article

if you understand what I mean – how would I get do this? I’m thinking that I need sections, but how do I make a list of sections and their articles?
