"Browsing by Section" comes up blank.
I have an TP installation working fine in every way I would like save one thing.
When I select a section in the “browse by section” pull-down my results come up with a blank page.
My search functions are working fine but not the browse by section function.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks.

Re: "Browsing by Section" comes up blank.
That’s not a “browse by section” it’s a “browse by category” and if you don’t have those categories you get a blank page. You need to re-do the tag and make sure you select “section” in the drop-down list.

Re: "Browsing by Section" comes up blank.
I actually mis-typed. It was “browse by category” and I do have 6 categories that do show up in the list.
There are multiple articles assigned to each category.
Still coming up blank.

Re: "Browsing by Section" comes up blank.
This FAQ might help.
If not, can you post a url and diagnostics, please?

Actually this is probably more to do with category lists using the front-page Alex.
Bert, can you set me up with a login so I can check how you have things?

I don’t think that would explain the blank page, unless I’m missing something.

Well if the articles in the list are in a section that isn’t allowed on the front-page you get a blank which is why I made that feature request which isn’t a feature at all. More a case of re-jigging what we have. Keep the category list in the section it was requested from. This is the second person in two days with the same problem. Also, because your front-page may well not be styled in a manner befitting the display of the articles, you have to set up a block of code that calls the appropriate forms. Easy enough so far for me but then I’ve been using it for over 12 months. Now comes the problem that causes me a problem. This new block of code needs separating from the normal front-page code with some kind of conditional so, if it is a category list use this code else do the normal front-page stuff. A doddle with the glx_if plug-in but I happen to know that somewhere between r1036 and r1044 that broke which prompted my feature request. If we kept category lists in the section they were called from we wouldn’t need to tweak the section permissions and we would be using a page template already designed to display them.

You won’t see any articles, but you’ll still see the page navigation etc. Not the same as a blank page, which is what the problem describes.

I don’t think so. There won’t be any page navigation because there are no pages.

I should say that when he says a blank page he means the main content is blank. He still has his header, footer and menus. Just a big white space in the middle.

Re: "Browsing by Section" comes up blank.
berchman: is ‘blank page’ a truly blank page, or merely the absense of any text in the central column of the default template?
