Well, too bad your sites weren’t included, I guess I was just luckier, or maybe your sites lack in quality or contents to be included into the index.

Re: My website is not found at google
I used to be one of the volunteers that run Dmoz. My area covered half of an ocean and a whole continent! The trouble was, people are generally sensible enough not to venture into those areas so websites were few and far between. I added a few sites, deleted one or two and then came across a borderline case which I wasn’t sure how to categorise. Messages were sent and many a case of beer drank whilst awaiting a reply. In fact, I drank so much beer that I forgot what I was waiting for and, in the absense of an answer, I gave them a mental finger and never went back.
Dmoz was a great idea but has been overtaken by technology.
Google = Bam!!!!
Dmoz = “Hang on for a minute, I’ll go out back and see if I can find something.” Both old-school and old-hat at the same time.

Here’s a little more evidence that DMOZ is worthless.

Re: My website is not found at google
Joey, have you a lot of php scripts, or have you the same thing in the head of all your pages. I <strong>think</strong> this is what caused my site to be about 3 months before it finally got onto google. The google bot was visiting from about day 7 and visiting all the pages, but just wasn’t putting them in the google database. There was a warning of scripts in the google help page, and I can only really put it down to this. Perhaps others have had similar experiences? BTW, I was on MSN search in less than a week.

No, the file extension of your pages has nothing to do with showing up in Google; it just sometimes takes time (6-8 weeks+ on occasion). Looks like it’s all crawled now.

FWIW, there’s a new FAQ entry on search engine friendliness that’s relevant here.

Re: My website is not found at google
It certainly helps to gain backlinks from renowned sites.
Besides the already mentioned “dmoz.org”:hhtp://dmoz.org I’d also suggest W3 Compliant Sites, which currently features a PageRank of 5 (just in case you cared), CSS Collection, and similar CSS vanity fairs which would help G, Y! and M$N to detect the presence of your site.
My toy site is live since late August, 2005 and is indexed thoroughly. All I did for “promotion” is use its URL while commenting on other blogs.

Re: My website is not found at google
About Dmoz it’s still working good but there must be 2 conditions : the catergory must be a small specific category (if you have a generalist blog, forget it… anyway it’s not the purpose of dmoz), and there must be an (alive) editor in that category… let me remember you anyone can become an editor…
All the sites I’ve submitted to Dmoz have been accepted so far, and I’m myself an editor in 2 small specific categories in french (I’ve created myself one) on subjects I wanted to be more accessible on the web.
Dmoz is not perfect but it is not dead… and there is an expression in french : “if the horse is a gift, don’t watch the teeth” ;-)

Seriously? I love it. The same expression exists in English: “Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.” What an obscure expression to exist in both languages!
