... make my visitors use the comment function?
hehe… well, thats nothing technical, i hope its okay to post it here. i would have posted it in OT, but it seems there is no OT-subforums…
i got the problem that many many visitors download the files i am hosting and linking in my blog, but theres no one that uses the comment function. do you have any special tactics to make them use it? :-)
i mean nothing technical. just a slight type of make them take notice its nice to comment.
so… how do you do this? :-)

Re: ... make my visitors use the comment function?
One tactic that I’ve just implemented is a list of the most recently commented articles as part of my homepage’s sidebar. This way people will know that their comments aren’t going to just be lost somewhere on my site and I think it will help them “get” that commenting could (or hopefully should) be part of their experience at the site.
The plugin I used for that functionality is this:

It’s very easy to use and nicely customizable by css.
Setting up an environment where the newest comments are highly visible like this is a good start but I don’t think it will work miracles … To get a lot of commenting going on you need to grow your audience and post things that they want to talk about. Keep at it and good luck.
