Txp on X.3.9

I have just installed MAMP in my X.3.9.
Can somebody point me to a tutorial which explains how i can install txp on my mac.
I have created a new db via phpMyAdmin
I open the setup/index.php file but what I see is not the setup screen (instead I see a lot of lines of code… ie the source of the file)…
I know I am missing something very basic here and this is my first ever attempt on trying anything like this so any help would be appreciated.

Where did you install Txp on your Mac ?
I’ve never installed MAMP on my Mac, but iirc you need to install stuff like TXP in a specific location, i.e. not in /Users/< userrname >/Sites, otherwise .php files are not recognized. Can you run the typical info.php from the location where you installed Txp ?

(If phpMyAmin is running, it means that PHP and MySql are running, that eliminates some possible causes).

[edit] spellcheck.

Re: Txp on X.3.9

hi phiw,
I have ‘placed’ (i cannot say installed because I haven’t managed that) all the txp documents in a folder called htdocs which resides within the same folder as MAMP. I have followed the instractions of MAMP “… Put your HTML and PHP files in the htdocs folder!…”

Re: Txp on X.3.9

colak, see:

www.maczealots.com/tutorials/textpattern/

It’s a little outdated and it’s supposedly for Tiger, but the general principles are the same. It doesn’t use MAMP, though.

Weird. It should just work then.

Just asking the obvious: are you accessing the page via http:// ?

Yep… I also figured it out

instead of reaching it on http://localhost:xxxx/textpattern/setup
I was trying the full document route…
Idiotic!

Thank you all for all the help
