PHP safe mode, will this be a problem
I was planning to install txp, using my webspace hosted by freedom2surf. But they run php in safe mode. Will that cause any problems in installing and running textpattern? Anyone who has used txp with freedom2surf?
Thanks

Re: PHP safe mode, will this be a problem
It should work fine, as long as PHP is configured correctly.
You’ll probably run into a problem with the temp directory used by file and image uploads. You can fix this by making the textpattern/tmp directory writable, and selecting that as your temp directory in preferences.

Re: PHP safe mode, will this be a problem
Thanks i installed it, and everything went fine. I had to play a bit with .htacces in order to for the site to work.
I have followed your advice about the textpattern/tmp folder. What about the images and files directories, do i need to make them writable, or do i let them as they are and just change their links to textpattern/tmp.
thanks

Yes, that’s always the case. The tmp directory is an extra step for safe_mode.
