Ratings / Simple In-post System?

Hi! I’ve gone through the forum, and other sites looking for a good ratings plugin. I found a couple, one of which works in a very limited way.

I am looking for something that would be applicable to any sort of review site- a plugin that allows content creators to set an overall rating, four or five category headings and their subratings, and some summary text and have it automatically put into a separate box that is styled with CSS and placed within the article. Ideally, the author would have some control over placement of this ratings box, it would be a form or something that they would call.

Visually, here is what I am aiming at, though ASCII doesn’t work so well here… sigh… imagine lines around the whole thing, remove the periods and make them blank space. _______________________________
.PLOT…SOUND…ACTING…ACTION..
…7………..7…………7…………8……..
…………………………………../overall.
Summary: The best movie../ 7.7….
ever to kill Tom Cruise……………….

Technically, I think I want fields to be added below the publish time fields when an author is writing an article. The reason for this is that I want anyone to be able to easily input the information (rating 1, rating value, rating 2, rating value, etc) without any need for extra administration or other privileges. From an author’s perspective, they simply fill out the various fields, and call the plugin or form in the text of their article. From a reader’s perspective, the article comes up with a ratings box at the appropriate place, with the information filled in. Obviously, it’d be great to make the formatting as flexible as possible- vertical layouts, auto column-resizing, etc. And if adding fields to the “write article” area is too difficult, then users could send the information as variables when calling the form/plugin.

I’m sure other people would like a plugin of this nature (various posts on the forum indicate so), but I’m equally certain that it is difficult. I would be absolutely willing to help out in whatever way possible, including donating to development. Please let me know if I’m missing a simple way to do this that already exists, or if you could use a similar plugin, or if you could/would make one. Thanks!
