Rocketfuelled
Hey folks
I recently completed a new version of my personal site using Textpattern: www.rocketfuelled.com
So, waddya think eh?
Techy Txp info:
It’s currently a very simple implementation of Txp with only one plugin being used. As time goes on I’ll probably add extra cool bits to make it all tighter, etc.
I’m using three sections – Portfolio, Blog and About.
The About section is just static content on the About page template at the moment.
I’ve split Portfolio into 4 categories – Print, Web, Identity and Photo (needs populating) and used a custom field for each to put a class name in from the stylesheet in order to get the different colours. (I coulda used some attribute selectors in the CSS for this but I need to learn more about that first!).
The Blog uses the nhn_livecommentpreview plugin mostly because I hate the default commenting setup! Apart from that, Blog functionality is at a minimum due to the fact that the Blog is new and currently very lite on content. As it grows, I’ll add extra functions (search, etc.) to make it all easier to use.
The ability to add and edit names of custom fields is very cool.
This Changing permalink titles forum article provided useful info, too.
I’m yet to figure out how to make my own comments different from everyone elses. I’ve installed the ajw_if_comment_owner plugin bit funked the implementation and so reverted to the default setup. If anyone’s got any tips, I’d appreciate it.
Big-up Txp:
I’ve used quite a few CMS’s in the past few years and have even tried developing my own (very limited success!) but Txp is by far the most excellent from a development and admin point of view. I’m a designer, not a developer so having a CMS available which allows cool functionality (ie. live preview, etc.) to be added with ease is a super-cool thing. So, thanks to all the folks who contribute to it’s development.

Re: Rocketfuelled
Very nice! I always like colour coding and I love the way you’ve done it. The tiny logo is unusual. It puts the focus on the content. Is that what you were thinking? The font-size might be too small for some people, such as me. How about a size option?
There are lots of details to attract and lead us deeper. Nice one!

Re: Rocketfuelled
Hey Zero – thanks! Yes, the idea of the whole design is really to put the focus on the content. Especially because such a large part of the site is the portfolio content – I wanted the work examples to be the focus of the page and not be overcrowded or out-shone by the rest of the site design.
I’ve had a couple of people mention the overall readability – font size + background colour. I’m planning on implementing a stylesheet swapper this week to invert the contrast and yes, a text size widget might be another improvement.
Cheers
