Rob on: Multiple Category Support in Textpattern
Rob Sable did modify TXP 4.0.1 to use multiple category support. He wrote about on his website: wilshireone.com asking:
Depending on the interest I’ll look to publish this as either a mod that people can perform on their own or as a fully packaged plugin. I’ve read of people asking for “tagging” support recently so if anyone has thoughts on this, fire away!
May be some devs are interested in picking up the mod and working on a plugin and/or mod guideline?

Re: Rob on: Multiple Category Support in Textpattern
Yeah, I’m hoping that Rob will contact the TXP development team and get this rolled into the core where it really belongs. The lack of this feature and dateaware archives are two great absences from this CMS. I would rather see this taken care of before Postgres support is added, for example (I really think more users will benefit from the former).
I’ve mentioned this to Sencer and other areas of the forum: hopefully the squeaky wheel will get some grease. ;)

About the dateaware thing, did you read the dev’s blog ?
You might want to check
<txp:if_different>
out :-)
Daily contents with txp:if_different
And a few other new tags like
<txp:if_first_article>
or
<txp:if_last_article>

I think we’re going to get what you want soon :-D

Re: Rob on: Multiple Category Support in Textpattern
This topic was discussed on the dev mailing list and it looks like the best option for now will be the mod/plugin approach. I’ve been able to setup most of the functions as a plugin but there are still some things to work out.
The site I created this for should launch in the next couple weeks at which time I’ll look at packaging everything up as a plugin.
