get back a deleted article section
I deleted the article section just before I read on textbook that I shouldn’t have.
What can I do, the comment about deleting it frighten me a bit about the future of this install, but i have already quite some content in there and I can’t really restart from scratch.
Any idea, should I just recreate the section?
If this is really such a big deal, why allow it to be erased at the first place?? I mean, the textbook is great, but far from complete, and it doesn’t look a big deal to remove the section until you really start to read some serious documentation!

Re: get back a deleted article section
If you have a good hosting company maybe they can retrieve a previous database backup?
edit:
Will it even let you recreate the section?

Re: get back a deleted article section
I don’t see a problem in deleting the article section, especially if you’re not planning to use it. But you say that you already have some content, if you assigned these articles to the article section it might be a problem. In that case I’d re-create it first, and see if everything still works, and if you don’t want a section called ‘article’ you can just rename it. Probably there are also some tags here and there that refer to the article section, you’ll need to adjust those as well.

Re: get back a deleted article section
All my content is organised in meaningfull sections, so nothing belong to ‘article’ (by the way yes you can recreate it). I just read on the textbook that :
“There are three Sections provided in a default install of Textpattern—“article” (as just mentioned), “archive,” and “about”—but the distinction is a bit tricky: The archive and about Sections are simply provided because these are often desired in Web sites and the folks at Textpattern are saving you a small step by creating them for you; you can use them (though you may have to modify their settings depending on what you want) or delete them, it is up to you. The Section called article is really the true default Textpattern Section, and as indicated this is a very important section used in conjuction with Textpattern’s base article flow. For that reason, you should never delete the article Section, even if you don’t readily assign any articles to it. (Is this true that the “article” section is associated with the base artical flow? Need confirmation.)”
so I’m thinking, what the hell does really happen when you delete it?

I’ve been running without an ‘article’ section for the best part of a year and haven’t had any problems. I think the wiki needs some updating…
You cooin’ with my bird?

Ah, I don’t know about all of that. I do know that I once deleted a section that had multiple articles assigned to it and when I tried to recreate the section it said that it already existed.
But, all is well now, it seems.

Nothing at all, as far as I know. I don’t really understand why TextBook says it this way. I deleted the article section for all of my sites. Did your site stop working after you deleted it? If not, then stop worrying ;)

That’s just wrong. I’m off to fix the wiki reference. Pretend the wiki never said that. :)
