Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ako_ifBrowser

@doggiez: Sorry about that, I’m moving my site over to a new server (I signed up with TxD (VC3)), so things might still be a bit rough as I go through and fix everything. Buit anyways, the download link should be fixed.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ako_ifBrowser

Probably a dumb question, but what would I want to tell a bot (checkfor=“bt”)?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ako_ifBrowser

Uhm, I’m not truly sure…

I suppose, if you were a bad person, you could feed the bots a whole lot of key words and the such to improve your page rank or something like that. But then, that would make you a bad bad person.

Ah, thanks for clarifying. But I don’t want to be a bad person ;)

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ako_ifBrowser

This is a very nice plugin and once your paypal account is set up I certainly will donate…

In the meantime, the download link (http://textpattern.org/pub/txp_resources/download.php?file=ako_ifBrowser.txt) is not working… Could you fix this ?

Thanks :-)

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ako_ifBrowser

Heh, thanks.

And the download issue is that I mstakenly forgot to type in my domain on the textpattern.org page, so it was looking for the plugin on that server instead of my server. This should work for you.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ako_ifBrowser

Ok thanks… I managed to get it : it’s just that you have to download “download.php”, and rename it afterwards…

But it works, and it’s great Thanks !!!

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ako_ifBrowser

Howdy all. Time for updates on my plugin, ako_ifBrowser I’ve tried to at least include some of the features requested, although they all aren’t there — I don’t want to delay this release any longer. Main things to note:
  • I’ve added the cookie feature, where the user will only see the message once, the first time they view the site. The attribute for this is <code>cookie=“1”</code>
  • I’ve added support for ie4, opera 8.5, and unrecognized browser
  • I’ve added an option to output simply the UA (user agent). This is acheived by the attribute <code>viewua=“1”</code>. Please note though that this will only output the user agent. Also, for this purpuse, I’ve added a sub plugin. What that means for you is that if you only wish to output the UA, you can use the following code: <code><txp:ako_ifBrowserUA /></code>. Again, this does the same thing as adding the <code>viewua=“1”</code> attribute to the ako_ifBrowser plugin.

In coming versions, I would like to work on getting up something like <code><txp:ako_elseifBrowser /></code> and being able to support verions below / above the give one. But that’s in the future. Lets focus on the present for now.

Download ako_ifBrowser v0.2
More info

As always, I’m more than happy to entertain questions, comments, concerns, requests, or whatever you will.

This is great news! Thanx for adding those features. Will have a go at it and tell you what happened.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ako_ifBrowser

Wow, that’s slightly embarassing. Um, I’ve fixed the link (and a slight formatting issue with the documentation as well), so here ya go…

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ako_ifBrowser

Is there any chance this plugin can be updated to include the latest desktop and mobile browsers? Is it something I can do?

Many thanks
