... make a static splash page

I want to make a static splash page for my site and use texpattern for the majority of the work. I have been trying to modify the .htaccess file to no avail. The splash page needs to be at the root of the URL and I would like (actually, my boss wants) to have textpattern running in the root directory as well. Any suggestions?

Re: ... make a static splash page

Is it possible for your splash page to be added into TXP as an article? If it is you can do it the same way I do my Home page. No .htaccess involved.

Re: ... make a static splash page

I’ve done a splash page just by modifing the default page and then having sections to handle the actual contents.

I don’t know if this solution is suitabe for your needs, but you could set the default page as a splash and then have a /content or whatever you like to name it section to display the “true site”.

Re: ... make a static splash page

Setting up a stactic splash is cake. Just hard code the html, set it as a “page” template in textpattern, and tell textpattern to apply that page template for the “default” section (in presentation > sections). Just make sure that portions of your static page leads to other content controled by textpattern (and which use an alternate page template). This could be either through hard coded links to individual sections or articles (or a dynamic list of these).

Re: ... make a static splash page

But the issue is when i set it as the default page, mdp_calendar points to it to open articles

jaymis: I’m looking for the same thing (do we have the same boss/client? ;) but i guess you can avoid the problem with mdp_calendar by using glx_if, no?

Re: ... make a static splash page

I was going to suggest glx_if as it does “if_frontpage” and “if_section_frontpage”. What kind of URL does calendar output?
