Re: ScreenGuardz

Just a thought: availability information and the screen guard that fits a product might also go into a custom field so that you have an easier and more standardised article input.

Re: ScreenGuardz

Nice work. You know, I think they are still looking for entries to the TextBook (textpattern.net) under the “e-commerce model section”. If you’ve got a little time to write up a brief step-by-step on your Yahoo! merchant model, I’m sure Destry would thank you for it, as would the rest of us!

Re: ScreenGuardz

you might find the footer stick article of use. It uses CSS to make sure the footer stays at the bottom but may not always work with the rest of your CSS, depending upon your design.

Re: ScreenGuardz

Thanx for the tips. I am looking at starting a store for my wife, and I wanted to use TXP to handle it. Now that I see it done (and with your tips) I think I am ready to tackle it.

I just have to decide if I want to do the Yahoo store, or find a different shopping cart/payment processor. :)

Re: ScreenGuardz

I have “fixed” the javascript on the pages to always knock below the text. So while it still does its thing, it is not so intrusive. I found a better way to get the footer to always stick, but I would have to totally redesign the layout (and I am bushed on this one for a while). Here is the URL for those interested.

Thanks, eveybody, for your comments. On the writeup thing, I am doing this again later this summer for another client using TXP/Yahoo. I will write a progression down and post it then.

Re: ScreenGuardz

Hello, just cross-posting my TxP e-commerce related post – looks like there’s a fair bit of crossover, but I’d be interested in finding out more about using conditionals to keep everything in one page template.

Re: ScreenGuardz

aboswell, thats a great looking site! I’m looking to integrate yahoo store with a txp site as well. Is there any way you could make a small write up on how you did it?

Thanks!

Re: ScreenGuardz

bitwise, thanks for the compliment!

I was thinking of doing a yahoo/txp writeup, but then got swamped with work. I will have to wait for things to calm down before gettin into it. I am working on a site now that will integrate the two more fully. Hopefully by December(ish) I will have more time.

Re: ScreenGuardz

just a tip. the main thing i did was to make one of the left side custom fields to be the yahoo id. I know there are easier ways of coding this now, but not really at the time.

here you go.

If you have questions, feel free to post.

Re: ScreenGuardz

Hey aboswell…
I am just getting around to trying to implement this now. Do you host your pages on a Yahoo site? I see you are using clean urls, but Yahoo doesnt allow .htaccess or mod_rewrite.

Also you said above you realize there is an easier way of doing this, can you explain that futher?

Thanks,
Dave
