Paths for local installations
Local paths to “mysqldump” and “mysql” might need adaption in order to work. Here are those for MAMP:
mysqldump Path: /Applications/MAMP/Library/bin/mysqldump
mysql Path: /Applications/MAMP/Library/bin/mysql
(To be entered on Extensions > DB Backup.)

The rss_admin_db_manager Textpattern plugin gives you full control over your Textpattern database. You can think of this plugin as a lightweight replacement for phpMyAdmin. It adds 3 tabs to your admin interface and gives you the ability to do the following:

backup your database
download your backups
restore your backups
view the disk space used by your database tables
repair/optimize database tables
run SQL statements against your database

Can one use it to convert false unicode (produced by Textpattern until very recently) TXP tables to real one, on a full utf-8 database ?

Where will the backup files be saved? On the server or to a local pc?

Jeremie – The plugin uses the mysqldump command but only certain flags are set in the plugin. If you need to use special flags to do conversions its probably best to do it from a command line.

doggiez – The backup files are saved on the server. You then have the ability to download them to you local PC if you want. You can see the options available on the database backup tab screenshot.

An Update

Figured I’d post another update: than ransom is currently at 81% complete so we’re almost there.

Destry, I haven’t had time to upgrade my site to 4.0 yet so I’m running an older version of RC3. I hope thats just an isolated problem until I have the time to upgrade.
