Deleting comments
Hi,
I’m pretty new to Textpattern, and just about getting the hang of it, thought there’s a load of complexities to get your head round on the road to simplicity… Nevertheless, things are looking good, and I’m mightily impressed by Textpattern’s elegance and the standards-compliant code it outputs.
However, I’ve stumbled across a problem with deleting comments. I work on the principle that it is more likely to be me than a bug. Anyway, the problem is this:
When I add a comment to an article, then delete the comment through the admin page, the comments_invite form shows up as ‘Leave Comment [1]’ although the comment has been deleted. Checking the MySQL database, I find that the field comments_count for the article is still set to one, although by my book 0 + 1 – 1 = 0!
Can anyone let me know why this is?
All the best,
Will

Re: Deleting comments
It was a probably glitch, because the script didn’t fully execute when you deleted. It should have the correct count again after you add, moderate or delete another comment on that article.

Re: Deleting comments
This would happen if there’s only ever been one comment received on the entire site, which was then deleted. The fix is in r677.

Re: Deleting comments
Well, i am attending the same problem with Textpatternversion: 1.0rc5 (r705) as you can see here on the very first post (Typographie für Webdesigner) http://textpattern.kbbu.de/. there shouldn´t be any comments counted as i did delete them already. But still the comments show [2].

Re: Deleting comments
This problem was fixed in 4.0.1. (it only appeared in 4.0 and a few earlier versions).
Otherwise please post your (high level) diagnostics.
