I think it would be great to have a “best practices” series of examples stating when rss_suparchive should be used and when article_custom should be used instead. I think both have their applications.
I really would have like to see examples of how that is done. I have always avoided using article_custom after reading in the forum “well, that doesn’t work with article_custom” way too many times around here.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list
I would like to see the article custom example too. It’s nice to have open options. I have yet to see any problems like what was referenced at txd forum with this plugin, but like many things if you call a plugin several times on the page it can cause server stress but the numbers jason gave out were astounding to say the least.. I mean at this point there isn’t much you can’t do with the rss_superarchive plugin as far as displaying article,cat,section, and date links goes.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list
Yeah, I don’t think rss_suparchive was the culprit in the TXD case, just too many calls and conditionals within that page template. When time opens up, I will try to provide some basic examples myself of using article_custom with a “basic” date-based archive and instances when rss_suparchive is needed instead. Just want to make sure from Zem that I’m not missing any undocumented article_custom attributes or features.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list
What would also be great is to be able to select the type. links, articles, or images. So in the suparchive tag I would have type=“link” and it would let me output an archive of the links in my system.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list
help! i want to have an archive page roughly like this one. I have (using parenthesees rather then greather/less then; how do i get those to show??)
(txp:rss_suparchive_menu section=“article” linktosection=“archives” limit=“1000” /)
in my archive page which appears to produce the correct result, but you will see that each of the links links to, for example:
http://www.criticalmiami.com/archives/2005/04
which produces the same result as the home page (except uses a different form on which the header is messed up . . . but nevermind that). What am i missing??
Yes, I have tried turning it off and on.

How might I reverse the order of the posts? I can’t seem to get the sortdir to function.
Thanks in advance!!

yep, would be very handy right now for a site I’m working on – a month-long festival with events grouped by day… but require days listed from the 1st to last of the month

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list
This line sets the ordering of posts:
$orderby= ($timeframe == “FUTURE”) ? “ ORDER BY posted asc “ : “ ORDER BY posted desc “;
You can change it to this to order by date in ascending order:
$orderby= “ORDER BY posted asc “;
or this to go in descending order
$orderby= “ ORDER BY posted desc “;

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list
hello,
Im my menu i have a choise of “archief(archive)”.
When i click on it nothing happens.
On my page section i use
<code>
<txp:ob1_if_section section=“archivescat”> <!— archivescat section —>
<txp:output_form form=“archivescat_page” />
</tpx_ob1_if-section>
</code>
Section archivescat en the form article exist.
I use now SVN revision 535.
What’s going wrong here ??
Roelof
I did some digging myself and when i change the section archivescat to default it works and when i do archivescat to archive it doesn’t work.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list
Hi all,
I’m not very experienced with css or textpattern…but I’m enjoying it so far.
Question: I have the following function calls in my default page…and they work perfectly!
rss_suparchive_bycat showcatsonly=“1”
rss_suparchive_menu
…but I would like to remove the “disc” bullet.
I’ve tried putting the following line various places in the style sheet.
list-style-type: none;
but the most that happens is that the bullet will turn from a “disc” (solid) to a “circle”. If I change the font size in the style sheet, that works fine…just can’t get the bullets to behave.
Then I tried some in-line stuff and that seemed to act the same.
Any thoughts?
Much appreciated!
Nate
