Handle non-english support request until localized Forums are online

There has been a few support request on the forums from french users, in french. I didn’t check if this was true for other languages, so many threads to read…

I hope 1.0 will come out soon so that we can launch localized support forums, as discussed with Dean in the past few months. I’ve had a few request on webmaster-hub (a french forum), regarding textpattern. I’d rather have them grouped on a dedicated forum, or we’ll waste knowledge gathering on txp in other languages. But let’s get back on the subject at hand…

I feel non-english messages can occur more and more frequently as non-english speaking users are beginning to use textpattern and look for support. This, of course, is linked to textpattern being localized in many languages now. I think we should agree on some system to handle this until the fr.textpattern.com, de.textpattern.com, nl.textpattern.com, jp.textpattern.com…etc are online. I am not sure creating new forums here would serve this purpose nicely. It’s “heavy” enough as it is.

One thing we could do, though, is set up some kind of “code” to mark up non-english thread with a distinctive string of characters so that we can access them through the better textpattern search

Could be (FR-POST) for french, (DE-POST) for german… and so on.
We’ll ask non-english people to insert this at the beginning of their post titles and it would greatly help find new post.

What do you think ?
Getting ahead of myself here ;-P ???

Re: Handle non-english support request until localized Forums are online

I think this is a good temporary solution until 1.0 is out. I would also prefer to have a non-english forum where all non-english posts would go. Each post would be marked like David suggests (e.g. FR-POST).

If there will be too many posts in this non-english forum it could also become messy. But I think it needs time, maybe it will work out fine. If not than we can look for some other solution.

Any other ideas?
