Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.

Can you make this clean url aware? So, for example, instead of what is currently ?c=eu-constitution it would be /category/eu-constituion just like what the built in <code><txp:category1 link=“y” /></code> tags output. (my permlink mode is set to /section/title)

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.

mary could I suggest adding some practical examples such as tinyfly’s or something like:

<code><upm_category1_image wraptag=“div” height=“yes” width=“yes” class=“cat-img” thumb=“no” /></code>

I’m sure they;ll understand anyway, but probably help just in case they don’t

tinyfly:

Yes.

> “…could I suggest adding some practical examples…”

The only problem with examples is that they wouldn’t tell the user what the output result is. If I added example snippets, then the next thing I’d be asked is to show what that would look like when rendered. I’d rather like to avoid comprehensive documentation like that, since that is the purpose of the official documentation: what plugin tags are, what parameters are, how to use them, etc. The tag by itself returns a certain amount of default info, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to figure out.

Greater in-depth plugin-specific examples are fantastic for the user-submitted tips and tutorials that are needed by the documentation. I give my blessing and thanks to efforts like theturninggate’s explanation of upm_img_popper.

If you don’t have a website to host it, the resources site welcomes submissions this. Just register and start contributing any knowledge you’ve found helpful, from small tips to expanded tutorials. If you do have a website to host it, still register with the resources site to post a simple summary and where the rest of the tut can be found. You don’t need any special permission, that’s what the site is there for.

Let me say though that I appreciate any and all feedback and suggestions, whether they end up being implemented or not.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.

call me dense but i’m looking at using this with opaque category images to be used in the background, behind the content – now my brain is’t working but how would i set this up with this plugin…

let me think…

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.

The only way to do that would be to absolutely position the image, then give it a lower z-index.

Just wanted to let those interested know about the category description plugin I was going to make.
Read back up here.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.

quote from the link:

The original plugin did, but I felt this wasn’t the greatest place to do this. I was going to create a separate plugin to do this, but I’ve decided to simply send a patch in to the devs. Built-in is better. :)

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.

I just installed v.0.3 and now when I click on one of the category images it only links to /category/ but no category name. If I set link_section=“yes” it links to // . ?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.

Works great Mary thanks ;)

Any thoughts on being able to add a class directly to the image? Because I would like to be able to turn the wraptag off.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.

If it were a question of the image needing to be placed within another element, like a paragraph, you could set the wraptag as “span”.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.

That is what I am doing now, but I am all for streamlined code and don’t need an extraneous tag.
