g17b Released
Available in deanload
Those upgrading from all previous versions must load the script located at /textpattern/_update.php in a browser after uploading.
Otherwise, remember that to upgrade, you need only replace the files in your /textpattern/ directory except config.php.
Fixes from g117a:
- Rebuilding the category tree now works as expected
- The phantom category ‘root’ should no longer appear when
<txp:category_list />
is used.

Re: g17b Released
Dean,
Would I be correct in suggesting the setup.php file NOT be uploaded if one is only <b>upgrading</b>
Instructions from /deanload/ page …
“If you are upgrading simply replace <b>everything</b> in your /textpattern/ directory except config.php with the corresponding files in this distribution.”

I haven’t tried any of the g1.17 releases yet. I manually modified my txp_users table to adjust the password column (to fit MySQL 4.1’s PASSWORD results); is this likely to cause me grief during the upgrade process?
Thanks for all the work. I’ve got a plugin conceptualized, and hope to get hacking on it tonight. It should be of interest to all the typeface geeks out there.

sben – no, nor should it in the future. That table isn’t mucked with (though there will be new columns added).
Ray – I’ll consider an upgrade-only downloadable sometime in the future.

Re: g17b Released
Please, oh, please … can you change the name of config.php in the tarball to config.php.default, or something else?
When I upgrade, I keep overwriting my old config.php file by mistake. :(

If not a separate download, a list of altered files would be helpful.
And any chance you could save with UNIX line breaks?

Re: g17b Released
I don’t know what editor you are using Dean, but if it’s something like BBEdit, it’s probably better to just set everything to Unix Linebreaks. But I haven’t had ANY problem with downloading it directly to my linux server and un-tarring/gzipping it there and upgrading…
So..

Re: g17b Released
My primary concern was people upgrading from a previous version and leaving the setup.php file on the server. I think the only ones that need to be ommitted in an upgrade are the config.php, setup.php files and the txp_img folder. Or at least make people aware they should delete the setup.php file after uploading.
<a href=“http://www.ultraedit.com/” target=“foobuckel”>Ultra-Edit</a> has great conversions setting. Unix/Mac to Dos , Dos to Unix, etc etc. Copy, paste then hit conversion to whatever you want.
Veeeeery nice.
