Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_quikpik

There seems to be a problem: sometimes when I call the site (not the admin interface) ?event=qp is added to the URL resulting in a 404 error.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_quikpik

Good call andreas. The first 3 lines of code in the plugin need to be moved inside the <code>if (@txpinterface == ‘admin’) {</code> block so they’re only executed in the admin interface. I’ll update the download now.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_quikpik

My preferences aren’t getting saved anymore. I upgraded to the latest rev and I still cannot.

I hit save, and everything just resets – I checked by deleting all of the style, and hitting save brought it all back.

Flaky. I deleted the cookies, and now it works again.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_quikpik

I’ve been having some problems with that. I’ve never worked with cookies using php before.

What was happening is multiple cookies by the same name were being created. I should be expiring them but it didn’t seem to work some of the time.

I actually quietly uploaded another version around 12:30pm EST today that seems to have helped the problem in my testing.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_quikpik

I have the latest version Rob but still seem to have the “cookie” problem. It does take me straight to the “Quikpik Preferences” page when I log in which is convenient but……

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_quikpik

I just installed your plugin, but I don’t see the admin> quikpik prefs tab and I also don’t the quikpik menu, its as thought I didn’t install it.

I’m using the latest version of TXP (Revision 253)

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_quikpik

marz, just to make sure: you activated it?

And: for some reason it doesn’t show up on the plugins tab only on the other ones.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_quikpik

marz – I was going to ask the same thing. Sure you activated the plugin? Admin plugins are not activated on the plugins tab as a security measure so that you can uninstall any plugin thats misbehaving. But as soon as you switch to another tab you’ll see it.

thebombsite & andreas – Bah! I’m not sure what the deal is with these cookies. The problem only seems to happen when you install a new version of the plugin over top of an old one. I need to do some more reading up on php and cookies it seems.

If you manually delete the 3 cookies that the plugin creates (all starting with qp…) the plugin should work fine. Can you both tell me what OS and browser you’re using so I can test it out? Thanks.

-Rob

wilshire & andreas: Yep, I activated it. I went through all of the tabs.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_quikpik

Sorry Rob. I missed that yesterday. This board is getting baaaaad. Anyway I’m using FF 1.0.2 on XP-SP2. I’ve tried the “delete cookies” trick several times and tried to observe what’s happening. It seems that as long as you remain on-line your QP options are retained but as soon as you close the browser they are lost again. I think the cookies are working on a “session-only” basis though it’s not something I’ve told them to do.

Also, as I’ve discussed before, if I use the drop-down menu option, I have to modify the widths in the CSS. I’ve done this but even that dissappears again if you close the browser and I would have thought the mods would be saved in the database, cookie or no cookie. Maybe I’m not thinking straight on that one?

Let me know if you need some testing.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_quikpik

Thanks for the details Stuart. I think I’ve got things working now. You were correct in that the cookies were only being stored on a session basis and being lost after that.

I’ve updated the version to 0.2.1. Take it for a spin and let me know how it goes.

Download rss_admin_quikpik 0.2.1
