Re: G1.17 Released

Dean,

you have added a utf8_encode to the load_lang function. This however, re-encodes and garbles my localized texts, as they are already stored in UTF8.

I wonder why did you introduce the utf8_encode at all…

Re: G1.17 Released

On the fresh g117 install I just inserted the values for the txp_users with phpMyAdmin. Login works fine now!

Re: G1.17 Released

Yes, this was the inevitable version cockup.

Anyone who tried to do a clean install of g117 in the last few hours would have had login failures. We (the royal We) regret this confusing turn of events.

If you re-download g1.17 however, all should go as expected.

Re: G1.17 Released

jonas – there’s error checking in place for this now, but can you check to see if you have any categories (article, image or link) in your database with blank names?

mamash – just to tick you off.

No, seriously, it made the date files I’ve received from others work. Still ironing this out.

Oh, I see. They’d better get converted to UTF8 then. As for dates, did you get my question on how you’re going to use the month names (if only as a part of a full date, or as independent words too – in selection boxes etc.)?

Re: G1.17 Released

Yeah, I have got the same problem as emili.

The categories show up in the articles, but they don’t show up, when I want to write a new article and choose a category.

Also the lists of categories (in the organise-tab) is empty now. But when I want to create a category I have created before the update I get the message “category XXX already exists”, so I don’t think, they are lost at all.

Dean, I found some empty categories “root” after downgrading to g16, but i just deleted them and it’s ok.

Re: G1.17 Released

Also having a problem updating from g1.16 to g1.17. I installed g1.16 this morning, then got to work and realized g1.17 was out. Copied all the files over, then tried to run _g117update.php and get the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: rebuild_tree() in /path/to/textpattern/_g117update.php on line 30

Note: renamed the path for privacy.

Am I missing a file that is needed? I re-uploaded everything just in case.
When I go back into textpattern I have a new category in articles, links and images named root. I also am missing ability to add keywords, the extra month options and some other features that I wanted to try out.

Re: G1.17 Released

Erk .. problems galore here.

_g117update.php failed on line 8 (link_identifier set to True? I don’t quite get that) so I ended up with a fragmented txp_category table.

Logged into the mysql monitor and executed the queries that didn’t get run, and then created a php script to rebuild the trees.

Same problem on two sites, on two completely different servers. I believe I was running g1.16 (fully updated etc) – but I’ve got a mysqldump of the moments before the collision.
One site was legacy, the other new at g1.15.

Any ideas what went wrong?

Re: G1.17 Released

I had a similar problem to emili and mapu, when I upgraded from 1.16 to 1.17 using the update script, I got the following message:

Warning: mysql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /Library/WebServer/Documents/textpattern/_g117update.php on line 8
updated database for Textpattern g1.17

Looking at the DB using phpMyAdmin, it was clear that all the database changes were done, except setting the parent to ‘root’ on all of my existing categories.

I simply edited each record, adding ‘root’ to the parent. Then I modified the g117update script to only re-run the rebuild_tree() lines.

Textpattern is now working as expected in most ways. I do notice that some of my ALLCAPS elements are not getting styled to smallcaps them, and when I switch from Preview to Text in the Write panel, the date of the article is being reset to 4pm on 12/31/1969.

Re: G1.17 Released

Regarding the new features, it seems to me that hierarchical categories makes it even more necessary to allow more than two categories per post. Is this something that will be changed?

Minor complaint aside, the velocity at which Textpattern is evolving and improving is simply stunning. I’m really in awe of Dean…
