Re: rc2 and 1.0
duffe: you do get updates. In fact, over at the Textdrive weblog, Jason posts things that show up on the very front page. How’s that for ya?
Others: I will happily put in 20-hour insomniac days writings docs/copy/whatever for anyone who is willing to hire me. Preferred payment is those little peanut-butter-on-cheese crackers, but in lieu of that I’ll also happily take your money.

Yes and no. I have a fairly high understanding of TXP’s strengths, weaknesses and nuances now. I don’t want to have to re-learn another system to the level that I know TXP.

Re: rc2 and 1.0
A couple of things in re duffe’s comments:
First of all, if you’re a TXD customer then you probably know that everybody there has been scrambling to keep the service running under the onslaught of spam, which should give you some clues about why there haven’t been many recent updates on TXP 1.0.
Second, Jason has pointed out a couple times both there and in these forums that 1.0 was being audited for security. He’s posted in the TXD weblog and in here about the features coming in 1.0 (clean URLs have been moved into TXP and only require a simple mod_rewrite
rule to activate, plus improved security and spam-fighting features. XML-RPC has been put back on the shelf until after 1.0). All of this information and more can be easily found by a simple search, so honestly: what more are you wanting?

Re: rc2 and 1.0
A new post.
<del>I’m trying to access pages 18 and 19 but can’t. Someone mentioned a <a href=“http://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?id=6445”>new post</a> does the trick.</del>

Actually that probably not fair: perhaps being paid by textpattern developers to use it for your clients? Or maybe being integrated into the new development team based on private, unseen plugins (sort of like zem)?

No more photos in this topic please.
Hey, wait a minute… I think I screwed up. This topic was for all practical purposes dead and I had to go and fix it. Rats!
Curse you Hoffman! Curse you and the lighttpd you rode in on, now this evil will continue…

Re: rc2 and 1.0
Thanks for jumping right on that Duff. What I don’t understand is what you’re waiting for? Irritated by? I’ve said it before, I’ll likely have to say it again. Right now Textpattern is Dean Allen. This is the way Dean works. To the nearest I can tell nothing has changed in the last year. It would be easier if he made regular stops here and smoothed the ruffled feathers, but I understand why he doesn’t. Coming here to do that takes his attention away from the job at hand.
As for hosting with TextDrive supporting Textpattern developement, yes it does within a certain framework. But TextDrive and Textpattern are two separate entities. If you want to cancel your account with TextDrive due to issues surrounding Textpattern then the path to doing that is clear. But don’t express your opinion on Textpattern expecting that it will not be challenged. Lots of people here aren’t concerned to the same degree by what you think is important. If it is that painful move someplace it’s not.
Life is too fucking short to spend time being pissed off about shit like this. I’m not telling you to go, nor am I hopeful you will. I’m simply saying don’t stay if it’s causing you grief to do so.
[There, think I got in my yearly allotment of forum swearing in one post.]

Re: rc2 and 1.0
“customers”?
There are no textpattern customers
“documentation”?
Go ahead and write some. I haven’t look at the project, but we can check to see how much you’ve contributed to it.
And to clear, I don’t work on textpattern, I happen to just be an active user.
Nor am I paid for running Textdrive (the thing that makes textpattern possible).
Also notice that wordpress is hosted at textdrive too and despite it’s popularity 90+% of the funds that go into wordpress are from textdrive. It pays for wordpress’s servers, pingomatic’s servers, wordpress’s development, organization and is covering more and more. So by all means, use wordpress. 1.5 is a great, great release that I enjoyed helping with.
TextDrive is also the group that reported the last two comment spam vulnerabilities in MT to sixapart and helps get patches out within a day or two. The first was covered by some articles, including this, and I had pre-re). We host a lot of MT, have a good relationship with SixApart (we tipped them off to mod_security etc) and Brad Choate was at TextDrive before he was at SixApart.
And Dreamhost is a good group of guys, not as innovative as us on the comment/refer spam end, which is why they’ll enjoy the SBL and other rules we’re making available to them.
So by all means, use MT and wordpress at Dreamhost. That way, next time I’m traveling and have lunch with any of them, I can make sure they pay.

Re: rc2 and 1.0
duffe: Go to Google. Type in “textpattern 1.0 weblog site:textdrive.com” and hit “I’m Feeling Lucky”.
Oh look, it’s Jason mentioning something about clean URLs in 1.0. Wasn’t that hard?
You want documentation? Well, we’re working on it. In fact, once again you can go to Google and hit the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button. For “textpattern documentation” you get this thread which (gasp) happens to be a roundup of available documentation on the subject. There’s even a wiki where a full-on manual is being developed. You want resources? Well, I know it might be strange to call it this, but the site for that stuff is named Textpattern Resources.
I could keep going, but I still don’t honestly know what you want. It’s like an updated version of the old proverb — we’ve led the horse to water and all he’s doing is complaining about how thirsty he is.
