Re: rc2 and 1.0

So what you’re saying is… when v1.0 is released, we should keep babbling about the lack of a release and/or just asinine comments. Sounds good to me.

I totally agree, and think that Dean should release TXP 1.0 as soon as possible so that we can get started on this project =)

Re: rc2 and 1.0

Available but not “officially” avail…. oh! There it is! Yessss!

I’ve used Wordpress for blogs but have been trying out Textpattern for bigger sites that need more customization. The wait, especially combined with the false starts, is a tad torturous (in spite of my no posts status I have lurked for months).

I moved to TXP from wordpress 1.2, and have found textpattern suits my needs better.
However, i couldn’t resist installing WP 1.5 to give it a whirl – and to move my hostees from Movable Type to Wordpress, as well.

It’s looking great, quite possibly the best WP release ever.

Re: rc2 and 1.0

This is getting ridiculous. I know that I’m going to be shouted down as ungrateful, and told that “Dean doesn’t owe us anything” and that i didn’t pay for the software and so on… but surely simple respect demands that Dean take at least 30 seconds to just let us know what’s going on?

I’ve been checking in here every day for more than a month now. And it’s getting tedious.

(flame away…)

Re: rc2 and 1.0

I have to agree with you steventer, although Dean doesn’t owe us anything there is obviously a huge amount of people that support the project and are patiently waiting for a release which seems to now be quite overdue, it would be really great if Dean could take that 30 second break to grace us with a simple message updating us on the status, even if its bad news, any news is good news.

Re: rc2 and 1.0

I agree… just a tiny little message? In fact Dean just copy and paste one of the following…

Release Due within the next week

Release Due within the next month

Release pending indefinately, reasons to follow.

I’ve done with textpattern!

NURSE!!!! I can hear the voices again!!!

LA, LA, LA, LA, LA, LA, LA……. I can’t hear you!!! La, la, la…..

Re: rc2 and 1.0

I don’t want to complain because TXP is for free. Patience is a virtue – unfortunately I am not really patient. Other CMS/Blogs are out there and some of them look quite interesting. I will keep an eye on TXP from time to time but I assume that I will come back here in 3 months or so to see that it is still the same.

Re: rc2 and 1.0

So far Textpattern has only been available as prerelease software. This should be interpreted as “use at your own risk.”

I recognize this is frustrating, but you have a few options:

1. Keep on waiting
2. Fork the code yourself—keeping aware of any licensing issues
3. Like #2, “mod” your way out of any cms functionality issues, as many are already doing.
4. Use something else.

For me, personally, several people telling me to “hurry up” tends to have the opposite effect—it’s a drain on the morale.

Me, I “mod, plugin, and wait.” I think I see a slogan there!
