Re: rc2 and 1.0
PeterS, the clean URLs as they come natively with TXP have one big drawback: the ID number. A good URL is not only search-engine friendly but also human-friendly, i.e. it should be easily remembered. That one number mars all efforts for easy handling between humans that does not involve copy and paste.
As soon as you try to give someone a URL there must not be a number in it because it will be forgotten.

Re: rc2 and 1.0
My understanding is that alex’s (zem’s) approach to clean URLS was incorporated into the soon to be released 1.0 so that they would be fully configurable, properly write out links and even work on IIS. That along with some stuff we did at textdrive to just make them work without htaccess etc.
<Disclaimer>
But then again I haven’t been paying much attention to the txp emails in my inbox other the one’s asking me to get alex up-and-running.

Re: rc2 and 1.0
Jason : That would be the logical and more effective choice. I really, really hope it was Dean’s choice.
Peters : there are numbers of reasons. The most commons are human friendly, and bot friendly. Some are quite more complex or less obvious. I have several web sites, some with clean URL (by the way of software, or by hand for static websites) some without; it really depends on the project involved.

Re: rc2 and 1.0
I understand V1 will offer table layouts and will be compatible with Frontpage 04 and all subsequent versions. CGI bins wide open. The Font tag makes a come back. Yipeeeeee I HATE CSS and any markup language that begins with an X! TxP rocks. Dean rocks. The dogs rock. You gals ‘n guys rock. Compooter rocks ; ) All this snow rocks. The -27 degrees on the thermometer rocks. Britney Spears rocks.
Oh my God I’ve got a TxP on my back and it needs an update. Your responsible for this Mr. Allen. You got me hooked.
