Do you have a source that suggest Safari 26 supports sizes=auto? Both caniuse (or caniuse.com/mdn-html_elements_img_sizes_auto) and MDN (sizes property ) say no support.
Where is that emoji for a solar powered submarine when you need it ?

Direct observation and experimentation in Safari ever since OS 26.
From what I’ve read, Apple fixed the browser agent string to reduce its fingerprinting surface.
Mac-related sites were all over this a month or so ago as usage stats showed that only 25% of users had upgraded to 261 (whereas it was more like 50%). Different interpretations of the agent string caused the discrepancy.
1 Safari supporting sizes=“auto” is just about the only advantage you get when upgrading to Tahoe!
