How do I... replace defunct rss_suparchive by custom code?

I have an old site which used to have an article list (sorted by date) produced by the rss_suparchive plugin. After updating from 4.2.0 to 4.9.0 this plugin fails to work. The page remains blank.

The article list looked like this: web.archive.org

This was the code I used:

<txp:rss_suparchive section="article" limit="200" form="lofi" />

And this is what module lofi looks like:

<b><txp:posted format="%d %B %Y" /></b>&nbsp;&nbsp;
<txp:permlink><txp:title /></txp:permlink><br />
<div class="line2"></div>
<div class="smallcat">Gepost in <txp:category1 link="y" />&nbsp;&nbsp;<txp:category2 link="y" /></div><div class="smalluser"> door <txp:author link="0" /></div><div class="smallcomments"><txp:comments_invite /></div><div class="clear"></div><br />

Is there any way of recreating this list? Either by fixing the plugin, or by custom code already present in Textpattern. Preferably the latter, as this will be more future proof. Thanks in advance!

That looks like it should work with the standard txp:article_custom tag which lists articles independent of the context of the page you are on (which is /archive in your link):

<txp:article_custom section="article" limit="200" form="lofi" />

PS: I did try and patch rss_suparchive as well.

Textpattern natively produces an archive of articles. See the demo site for reference.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding what your archive needs are.

Wow, txp:article_custom works! It’s amazing. Thank you very much.
Would this have worked in 2006 as well? I mean, why did I use rss_suparchive?

I think it probably would have, but in general the built-in tags have become more powerful over the years without changing much in their basic principle. Back in those days there were a lot of plugins for extra situations that the core tags can now cover. The fact that there are fewer plugins now than before is not a bad thing.
