Re: Feedback: Textpattern CMS 4.9.0 beta.2 released

I can confirm all backend services are currently running on – and fully optimised for – IIS atop Windows XP SP3 on a Gateway 2000 sub-notebook with Visual SourceSafe.
I need my Bonzi Buddy!
Other than reverting to a stock instance a couple years ago with Bloke’s help, I’ve had the same TXP database for 20 years now. Pretty soon it’ll get to drink (legally, even if most of it from around 2006 looks like it was already drinking).

Re: Feedback: Textpattern CMS 4.9.0 beta.2 released
Just feedbacking, that the 4.90 beta2 version has really helped reestablishing functioning user password resets and alike.
Details can be found here
Is there a timeline for the official 4.9 release? I’ve 25 other TXP installs to take care of in order to reinstall mail services and I’d prefer to use the release for the updates. Not meaning to stress anyone.
4.90beta2 has otherwise not shown any obvious troubles (yet).
Thank you devs for your work!

Re: Feedback: Textpattern CMS 4.9.0 beta.2 released
It was meant to be released this time last year but then PHP 8.5 was announced and I’m glad we waited because it actually uncovered quite a few little bugs that we’ve fixed.
We’ve heavy pencilled next weekend as the drop date for 4.9.0, providing the new image functionality is stable enough. Please test the very latest code on a site or two if you can. The more feedback we can get the better.

Where again would I find the very latest release? Happy to provide feedback. As of the new image code I’d be simply happy, if 4.90 doesn’t break 4.88 there.

Re: Feedback: Textpattern CMS 4.9.0 beta.2 released
Download it direct from GitHub. Hit the green Code button and choose Download ZIP. Extract it and copy the various folders to your chosen test Txp install (merge/overwrite files).
Don’t copy over the ‘setup’ folder. And you can ignore ‘rpc’ and ‘sites’ too if you’re not using multisite or an external publishing engine.
If you’re creating a fresh install, just copy all the folders + root .htaccess file from the zip to a web-aware location and run /textpattern/setup as normal.
Enjoy!

You can find it on GitHub in the dev branch (the main releases are on the main branch, but the current development stage is always on dev. You can see which branch you have at the top-left of the table of filenames [apologies if that was already obvious]). If you just want to download the state at that moment in time, go to the green “Code” button and choose “download ZIP”.
