Re: Textpattern's face to the public

It is quite possible to use txp as dynastatic cms (I do), but currently it needs etc_cache plugin. One can instruct it to store some pages in disk cache, bypassing all php processing on access. The other ones (for example, search queries) will be processed normally by txp. On relevant site updates (new articles etc) the cache will be flushed and then rebuilt, either automatically or on first visits.

Serving cached pages is typically 3-4 times faster, and uses almost no memory, so I would be inclined to integrate a cache in txp 5. Dunno how to set it up on a non-apache server, though.

Re: Textpattern's face to the public

As a follow-up, I extracted my lore from the third-party forum, wrote more prose and posted it there.

The powers that be might consider adding a referral to the main site, e.g. here, if they wish – as I think putting this comparison with other vendors directly on the main site would be considered boasting, ungentle(wo)manly and impolite.
