Textpattern classic theme?

Does anyone remember the classic TxP theme?

It looked kinda like this but had more yellow (I think)

Does anyone have the old files for this, like the CSS or the pages and forms?

Yes. Sorta. I maintain a stash of all the old Textpattern releases here:

github.com/textpattern-community/textpattern-releases

You can dig into each release and find the theme files inside. Depending on the vintage, some will be flat files, some may be smushed-up SQL syntax. Here’s a jumping off point:

github.com/textpattern-community/textpattern-releases/tree/master/releases

…and here’s where the 4.6.0 theme stuff is stored, for example:

github.com/textpattern-community/textpattern-releases/tree/master/releases/4.6.0/expanded/textpattern-4.6.0.tar.gz/textpattern/setup

Happy hunting!

Re: Textpattern classic theme?

Apropos of something or not…. over the weekend I began exploring Gopher. Yes that old protocol. I have even installed it on my hosting provider. So far just poking around. The main reason is that I long for our simple classic web/internet sites. I am getting old.

Now regarding the old original “classic TxP theme”, I think there is a very good case to be made to have it included in the distribution as one of the choices to be made on installation. For many writers this theme is all that is needed. Just look at Medium and similar platforms. Dean’s first posts were not only mesmerizing but the look of TxP was just perfect !

And another similar look at Cardigan

Now with a faster internet, a larger font and a wider page width would be ideal. Let us know how you make out in updating the theme.

PS I had started to develop a site with the intention of capturing some of Dean’s cardigan posts … but ran out of steam… and too many grandkids to keep up with. New CSS allows for larger fonts and other typographical changes. I don’t think it would be too much work to make it more “Classic” looking.

Thanks for listening…

Re: Textpattern classic theme?

today I came across this Textpattern Site . It is an elegant and pared down example of a classic site. Lovely to read through.

If memory serves, that’s one of zero’s sites.
