Forum-related email delivery, early April 2025

In early April 2025, forum-related emails were sometimes being rejected at their destination.

This has been resolved, for the moment anyway.

Thanks to at least one noisy neighbour in our IP block (159.65.240.0/24, if you’re curious), our forum server IPv4 address was added to a Spamhaus Policy Block List (PBL). Email service providers who use Spamhaus for allow / block actions (hi, Google) started to refuse email delivery from our IP address.

There is / was no fault with our server in particular, but one or more other players in the /24 space were misbehaving sufficiently for the whole block to be binned at Spamhaus.

Removal from Spamhaus is straightforward enough, and normal service resumed around 2000UTC on Apr 09 2025.
