txpmag.com broken
txpmag.com currently exhibits some of its innards, such as:
Fatal error: Uncaught mysqli_sql_exception: Out of range value for column 'impressions' at row 1 in /var/www/s

Re: txpmag.com broken
Hmm, I get that too. If I try logging in, I can’t see the admin area properly, just the menu bar, but once my login cookie is set, I can see the front-end properly.
EDIT: On the admin-side, it seems CSP-directives (?) are preventing jQuery from loading so the body class no-loading
is not cleared. data url decoding is also failing for data-img urls. Clearing the class manually via the browser devtools brings back some of the admin area. Diagnostics show several wrong non-writable directories. I’m intrigued that the front-end works once logged in. Maybe the dev-theme isn’t live?

Re: txpmag.com broken
I think the clue hidden in the error message is that someone who knows more about a thing called smd_adman
might help.

Oh. Ohhhhh. Guess that’ll be me then.

Re: txpmag.com broken
This problem seems to be solved.
But another problem appears in the inner pages, e.g. here:
Fatal error:
Uncaught mysqli_sql_exception: Out of range value for column 'impressions' on row 1 in /[...]/txplib_db.php:442
Stack trace: #0 [...] #2 /[...]/plugins/smd_adman/smd_adman.php(1076): safe_update()
It seems that someone who knows more about a thing called smd_adman
could help again ;)

Re: txpmag.com broken
The site’s not been touched for over a decade.
At the risk of rudely awakening the elephant in the room, is there scope for trimming back the 20+ plugin arsenal and archiving the site? It’s not exactly a glowing endorsement of what we’re doing if it’s dormant for 10 years.
I know first hand how much time and energy went into the site & brand relaunch, and I also know when each minor PHP version rolls around it’ll be over to Bloke & other plugin authors to maintain potentially bespoke code on plugins that the site relies on.
It’s entirely possible multiple plugins are redundant if they’re now baked into core, so there’s some cruft to factor in, too.

IMHO the site no longer serves any purpose.
It does not promote Textpattern, nor does it publish content that would inevitably be missed. Au contraire, it possibly makes its associated CMS look a bit outdated and unkempt.
I’d suggest turning it into a static(?) “memorial” site with a pointer directing curious web archaeologists to the Wayback Machine, while keeping alive the historical efforts of alexandra and others1.
1 …like the site that once promoted a hosting company associated with Textpattern turned into a hosting company providing Twitter’s Fail Whale phenomenon and then into a Samsung subsidiary.

I’m happy to ice it.

Re: txpmag.com broken
Well, that was fast.
I’ve just submitted the whole thing to the Wayback Machine with ‘follow outlinks” enabled, so we have a shot at a ‘full’ grab. It’s in-progress at the moment, but the crawler should catch all the pages if we’ve linked them sensibly.

Shamelessly pilfered: txpmag.com/memorial.html
Is that an acceptable take?
PS: Nice catch on the domain!

I occasionaly think of Kevin Potts and wonder what he is up to these days.
I still treasure the book Textpattern Solutions: Php-Based Content Management Made Easy he did with Nathan Smith, Robert Sable, et al.
