TXP Mag has an issue

Hi,

TXP Mag has an error at the top of the page, which I believe is screwing up the feeds.

Deprecated: Function get_magic_quotes_gpc() is deprecated in /var/www/vhosts/txpmag.com/www/live/textpattern/lib/constants.php on line 136

Re: TXP Mag has an issue

Is there a fix for the Mag’s missing content list on homepage, and the nice Txp ads that Stephan had created.

I can take a look at that as I did an update back in Jan 2021. I briefly switched on diagnostics and saw:

smd_adman_track: Incorrect TIMESTAMP value: '0000-00-00 00:00:00' on line 453

smd_ad_image: smd_ad_image tag is not registered while parsing form ads-phone-banner on page front-page

smd_featured: Textpattern Error: Character set 'binary' cannot be used in conjunction with 'utf8mb4_0900_ai_ci' in call to regexp_like. while parsing form articles-on-front-page on page front-page

I don’t see those errors and can see the table of contents on my own test site, but I have a different system charset for mysql and mine is a txp 4.8.5 version so I see other php 8.1 compatibility errors.

Thanks for pointing those out and I’ll see if I can fix it first locally and if not I’ll ask Pete for a dump of the site.

Re: TXP Mag has an issue

I’ve resolved some things and the errors. A few more fixes to follow.

Re: TXP Mag has an issue

Thanks to jakob’s hard work, we’re getting there with these snags.

Given the era of the site, there are a lot of plugins – currently >20 installed, most are active, many are from bloke’s foundry, some of those are bespoke / custom for the mag site – so there’s stuff to pick through. The site was built around 2012/13 when PHP 5 was everywhere, and a lot has changed since, both in PHP and in core Textpattern.

… and to Pete’s fantastic server skills :-)*

The missing index and custom ads should be back and working now.

Note: switch off your ad blocker if you want to see the ads (note to self: helps when testing too!)

Re: TXP Mag has an issue

Thanks, fellas. Everything looking right again.

I’m aware of the vintage nature of the site, of course. I am referencing it in some important side dealings, so it needs to muster.

I suppose until the day comes that the magazine kilns are again set ablaze, it pays to keep the old iron rust free and the wood oiled.

I should clarify – it wasn’t meant as a snipe, Destry.

Edit: and best wishes for your dealings!
