"Sorry, the form could not be submitted. Please try again later."

Leaving this here since I’ve just encountered it…

The message “Sorry, the form could not be submitted. Please try again later.” is typically associated with some sort of server-based web application firewall (WAF) like mod_security or Naxsi.

I’ve just witnessed Cloudflare being the cause of the same error. The POST action on /textpattern/index.php when I tried to deactivate a plugin threw a 403 error in the console, and the above error. When I tried to manually edit the code, saving it took me to a Cloudflare-branded page saying I was blocked.

Solution: disable Cloudflare proxy for the duration of your plugin stuff if that happens to you. I was using Tor as a DNS-busting browser, I’m sure there are ways to add in your known-good IP address(es) but the temporary disabling worked for me.
