load mysql into Textpattern, how to load articles form that database ?

I had a site get wiped due to an intrusion from outside the web host.

I did have a mysql backup on my home computer for this particular Textpattern site. It reloaded with no errors.

Is there a way to go into myPHPAdmin panel and get the articles to repopulate ? Or do I have to do that by hand ?

Thanks.

JimJoe, not sure I understand.

What did your backup comprise, just your articles or the complete site? What exactly is the result now, empty articles or none at all? And: would you want your backup to replace existing articles or add them to the site?

(Also not unimportant, e.g. re plugins: what TXP version did you make your backup with?)

Re: load mysql into Textpattern, how to load articles form that database ?

the backup is the entire sub-domain. I do dump the entire domain as well, but I don’t need to restore all of my sites. Just 3 of them.

I import the mysql database using myphp admin, and no articles are added. There is data in the database as I checked.

Backup 2.8.2, and the web host updated everything to 2.8.7

I tried again, as a double check. Only the 15 articles I have retyped in are there.

Tried it a test sub-domain. https://testone.drivein-jim.net/

Looking at myphpadmin, the data is there, but no articles are filled body and subject lines.

You mean TXP, and v4.8.2 / 4.8.7, I presume.

  • Have you tried to log in already?
  • What happens in the TXP backend, can you see articles there?
    • If so: What happens on the public side when you save one of them?
  • Anything unusual from the Diagnostics page?
    • If so: Please post the diagnostics here.

Re: load mysql into Textpattern, how to load articles form that database ?

Sorry, yes, 4.8.2 and 4.8.7

Nothing unusual on diagnostics, says all checks passed.

I looked at both low and high detail, no error messages.

I logged into the cms, I see the upload articles in the mysql in myphpadmin, but not in the articles of Textpattern.

Saving them works fine.

I use my own front word on the database, I don’t use txp_. would that make a difference ?

edit. I don’t want to keep you up all night. I’ll check back on Tuesday, North America time.

Re: load mysql into Textpattern, how to load articles form that database ?

I did a web search… lots of articles on backing up the mysql and the files. But nothing on how to restore from those backups. Some links said they did both, but when I read them… only backing up. Nothing on restoring the articles.

I would think there was a plugin or a tutorial on how to do it. I’m not a php expert, so I have no idea how to do accomplish this.

Plugin: Restore, but it is from 2005 and the author’s home page gives a 404.

I did notice the Import of other blogs/cms is no longer available.

Any further suggestions ?

Thank you for your assistance.

Re: load mysql into Textpattern, how to load articles form that database ?

Well, I figured it out.

exporting the mysql creates tables like word_texptpattern. But it drops the front part and only keeps the textpattern part. i was told to use a specific word there, so I did.

Editing the mysql file such that I add that extra word and the underscore, all my articles show back up.

Hurrah, at a low volume.

Re: load mysql into Textpattern, how to load articles form that database ?

I’m glad you’ve managed to get your website back again.

You asked for some kind of plugin. rss_admin_db_manager lets you shift from any familiar Textpattern admin page to Extensions > DB Manager and click a link there for backing up, and that’s it. And loading a backup there isn’t any harder than backing up.

But it certainly wouldn’t have avoided your table prefix situation, the new table names must match the previous ones. The plugin is just simpler to operate than taking the phpMyAdmin path. And that way you’ll more often do a backup and have less data loss if the worst comes to the worst.

Thanks.

I have access to myphpadmin rather easily.
