Sorry, I meant on Admin>Preferences>Site>Article URL pattern.
I think that txp does not support <txp:site_url/>cat_parent/cat_child/ urls, but it does support <txp:site_url/>section/cat_parent/cat_child/ and <txp:site_url/>section/cat1/cat2/

As the Article URL pattern implies, you cannot avoid the section in the url. What you can achieve with this pattern is section/cat1/cat2/ which is what I am using on www.neme.org/projects/respublika/, although I think that section/cat1/sub-cat1/ is also possible.
