Re: Time for another TXP online chat!?
I’d be up for that I think. Not done a TXP meeting for a while. Once people have replied with likely times I’ll try to be free.

I hope to be able to make it. Here’s some options: xoyondo.com/dp/dZxOS2fSEJKSaeN. Will it be on Jitsi again? I can organise another url there or should we use the same room?

I guess it faded… I’m sure that we’ll organise another one.

Re: Time for another TXP online chat!?
Is there a place to subscribe so we can get notice of TXP updates?
I always seem to miss update notices —
Joomla is a bit more forward with update notices — when you log into the admin area,
you get an immediate notice that there are updates -
Perhaps a simple plugin that alerts you to updates — perhaps this is part of the TXP 4.9 framework?

We always post a blog message on textpattern.com. And if you follow our project on GitHub then the Releases area is always up-to-date. We are thinking of resurrecting the mailing list one day.

This is perhaps trickier in Txp because we don’t necessarily know a “new login” from a “returning login via cookie” vs a “panel clicked in this session”. That’s why it’s squirreled away on the Diagnostics panel, because it would slow the admin side down to check regularly. Plus it’d be annoying as you’re navigating to be hounded by a message every few hours so we have to then look into acknowledgement of that measage, and timeouts before it’s redisplayed, etc.
However, if we decoupled the update check from that panel to a central library, we could run it from the login page but maybe only when fresh credentials (not cookie) are provided.
That would mean you wouldn’t necessarily see it unless you fully logged out and back in again, but maybe every so many days (30? Can’t remember exactly) you’re kicked out and need to re-login so you’d find out then. Dunno.
The cookie/login code isn’t super clear on how long things stay active. I’m sure I’ve had longer than a month between forced re-logins but haven’t monitored it.
Any other mechanism is probably too invasive on the admin side, imo. Welcome to be challenged if anyone has any neat ideas.
