Forum users online
PunBB and then FluxBB has a list of users online in the footer.
What’s the reason we decided not to show users online here?

Re: Forum users online
It was just extra stuff that I felt was unnecessary to end users. There are a number of FluxBB items I’ve removed to streamline our forum down to (mostly) the essentials.

Re: Forum users online
Phil,
I remember when Internet forums came out, before that we had newsgroups and we’d follow them in our preferred email client, sucking in the latest postings.
Forums brought us out of the darkness of the text based web, and started huge communities in the process. Those early days of phpBB, where you’d log in and see tons of people online, that’s why I kept coming back.
The web is littered with support forums that have a particular user who uses a TV as an avatar. With today’s modern tab based browsers, I can follow quite a lot of different conversations going on.
Textpattern can grow, it’s an amazingly capable CMS, but you have to build a community first.

Does not exist in today’s connected world.
Saying that, here’s a different look to the Textpattern Planet site.
Now do you see Online – who’s on the forum?, click it :)
