Small site for a university & Unesco
I’ve been very slack at sharing work so will start to make up for it by dripfeeding sites into here from time to time.
https://eschemistry.org/ was built in 2019 for Deakin University in Melbourne and the Australian National Commision for UNESCO, celebrating the International Year of the Periodic Table.
It’s quite a simple site based closely off the default theme, with a smidge of bootstrap.
It includes a “sub-site”, which I think was just reworking a few things for a particular section.
The client wanted to be able to edit the main menu so I made a hidden article containing a textile unordered list. The list is operated on by jQuery to display as a menu with dropdowns. I’ve just noticed there’s a flash of unstyled list items before the menu settles into place – always something to work on…
The “random” element box on the left can also be edited using a hidden article and textile.
The background image was an experiment in css linear gradients.
The clients were pleased and textpattern worked like magic for it (as usual).
