Textpattern Plugins site BETA is now live

Hi everybody – we’ve quietly launched the new Textpattern Plugins site that is replacing the old textpattern.org site. The new URL is:

plugins.textpattern.com

Or you can reach it from the navigation bar on our official sites.

At beta launch, we have just added a handful of plugins to get the site up and running and to stress-test. Many more plugins will be added over the coming weeks, so don’t fret if your favourite plugin is not yet listed.

On that topic, if any community members want to become plugin site curators, let us know in this forum post. The process for adding and maintaining a plugin is really quite quick and simple. Updates of an existing plugin are simply a case of updating a JSON file slightly and then committing to a GitHub repo.

Textpattern.org will stick around for the foreseeable future, until all useful content has been migrated to the new site.

Re: Textpattern Plugins site BETA is now live

That is indeed very cool. My first interaction with it was to check for 4.8 compatible plugins but no results were returned after selecting 4.8 from the pulldown and clicking search whilst the text field was empty. I do not know how hard it would be, but it would be nice if we could get a list with all compatible plugins on a per version basis.

Yes that seems like a logical UX to do. Can you please open an issue here and we can look at that.

I’m not sure how you override Textpattern’s default behaviour of not doing a search when the search field is empty – but I assume one of the other devs knows a way.

I can understand the difficulty. I have submitted an issue, hopefully in the right place.

For prosperity here, instead of just being confined to a GitHub comment that’ll eventually be closed, this illustrates a way of differentiating between “a search with content” and “a search has been performed that may be empty”:

<txp:if_search>
   YEP, haz native search with content: <txp:search_term />
</txp:if_search>
<txp:if_request name="q">
   YEP, haz search<txp:evaluate test="page_url"> with content:<txp:page_url type="q" /></txp:evaluate>
</txp:if_request>

The smd plugin menagerie — for when you need one more gribble of power from Textpattern. Bleeding-edge code available on GitHub.
