Are you running Textpattern on a non-Oracle database engine?
Textpattern officially supports MySQL for its database. Accordingly, there is a minimum and recommended version as part of the Textpattern system requirements. There are no plans to change this.
Textpattern also runs on MySQL-like database engines, such as MariaDB and Percona, though these are not officially supported. You may choose to use these alternatives, or your hosting organisation may have made that decision for you.
If you are successfully running Textpattern on a non-Oracle, MySQL-like database engine, it would be very useful to know what works in real-world environments. If there’s enough interest, I’ll look into making and maintaining a docs article (with appropriate caveat for not supported) so users of non-Oracle engines are informed of what works, what doesn’t and so forth.
Please reply here with details of your database hosting environment. You can find this information in Diagnostics. Look for the line(s) that refer to your database, and you’ll see something like:
MySQL: 8.0.19-10 (Percona Server (GPL), Release '10', Revision 'f446c04')
The version number might be 5, 8, 10…or something else entirely – this is what I’m interested in. The vendor might be listed, it might not be.
Please also include any known issues you have with that database engine, if there are any.
If you’d prefer to not post your details here, no problem – please contact me (link on my profile) and I will ensure your specifics are confidential.
Thank you in advance.
