I hope you stocked up with food that lasts. Beans, pasta, lentils etc.

Pete, that’s terribly sad! Forget the other stuff, it’s really unimportant.
Please check in on your friends, more so if they have brain wiring that makes them more susceptible to the challenges of life. Thank you.
Sound advice. Keep well!

Re: Corona virus
Hi,
Re-learning to type :)
Read this thread, interesting to see how each person evolved in this situation, our thinking, our preparations, our daily routines.
I’m in Florida, a US state that just minutes ago decided that the death count predictions had reached an unacceptable level. With a state-wide stay at home order, Gov. DeSantis is now shitting in his pants; had he followed the Orange One for too long, were the elderly, a bright red GOP demographic, in danger of not being able to vote in November?
Over here in the US, it’s all politics, blue states prepping, red states going to church. Half the country following the pandemic playbook, while the other half are brushing up on the Armageddon Bible passages. “It says here that locusts, yeah weren’t there something in the news about Africa, damn cross that off”
May 3rd is our peak point according to those graphs that are scaring everyone across this country. Predictions are that even if we observe social distancing in the state that gave you Spring Break, there could be 15,000+ deaths.
Locked in, just grocery runs, found my laptop.

It’s necessary. Needs work, and I need to stay busy. My business has lost 90%+ of its clients & income, so I’ve got a nice, clean slate on which to start rebuilding it.

Palantir is already pitching at Europe, has sold to Brexitland (anyone heard from Bojo?), has likely sold to the other eyes of the five, and it’s no doubt operating in the US now.
Neither am I surprised how short-sighted/quiet the world is being about climate crisis (still a far greater threat to society). This pandemic could be the much needed catalyst for societal change in the right direction, if played right.
But I see no signs of that at all, unfortunately. All the news can talk about, besides latest infections stats, is market loss and how/when stocks can rebound. Money, money, money.
Climate will come back to our attention when the world starts burning the glut of crude sitting in hundreds of supertankers anchored all around the world (accidents waiting to happen). The brief environmental reprieve in air pollution, from the drop in consumerism, flying, and driving, will rebound with a vengeance in the name of ‘kickstarting the economy’. Or as Trump said to the effect last night, ‘we’re going to get our oil companies and the economy back, bigger and better than ever’.
5G proponents are salivating, of course, including Palantir and intelligence agencies.
