ccc congerss 2019

The ccc 2019 congerss will be finishing on Monday.

Here are two highly recommended talks for those who wish to spend part of their holidays watching something more interesting than Christmas TV.

  1. David Graeber, a self proclaimed anarchist anthropologist, and professor at LSE.
  2. Julian Oliver a critical engineer, systems administrator, artist and activist who is also responsible for Extinction Rebellion’s online global communication network.

Re: ccc congerss 2019

David Graeber is always worth some time, even if I disagree with him on some things. His book “Debt – The First 5000 years“ is a must read. Julian Oliver I don’t know, will try to follow his talk. The subject is interesting, though. I really wish they provided a transcript not only a video.

Thanks for posting about those.

Re: ccc congerss 2019

Hi Philippe,
Graeber is indeed a controversial figure, but I can relate to a lot of what he writes and talks about. Bullshit Jobs is also a great book. We exhibited Oliver’s work last year in our space and he was a pleasure to work with. The particular talk I have posted, centres on his pro bono work for XR and I think that it will be of interest to those who are privacy conscious.

Oh, so do I, that is certain. Bullshit Jobs is a good book indeed, and I expect his talk at CCC to be in the same line.

Just in case the forum did not hear the shocking news that David Graeber died last night in Venice. The death was announced by his wife on Twitter.

Damn :-(.

Not a vintage year.

your post above was the first I heard about this… I scan through the email in the morning but can’t bring myself to read any sort of news in the morning. the really is depressing enough as it is without venturing into the world of “news”.
